ABOUT YUNGBLUD:
Yungblud AKA Dominic Harrison is the 27-year-old from Doncaster who has achieved two UK number-one albums, generated six billion Spotify streams globally, and broken into the Billboard Top 100 with his last two albums. In 2024, Yungblud debuted his own festival, Bludfest, at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes, where he presented a curated lineup of artists, headlining the bill himself. That same year, he released You Need to Exist: A Book to Love and Destroy on Penguin Publishing, which became an instant No.1 Sunday Times Bestseller.
This past summer, Yungblud released his fourth studio album, Idols. As we set out to write the album’s biography, we found ourselves trying to distill the essence of what Yungblud had shared with us—where this project came from, what it means to him, and what he hopes it will accomplish. But ultimately, it became clear that the best person to tell this story is Dom himself.
In his own words, Yungblud noted “I wanted to give you an idea of where my head was at when I was making this project—why I made it, what I want to achieve with it, and what it means to me. “After my last album came out, I remember sitting in a hotel room in New York and feeling like I was starting to repeat myself. I felt like I was falling into my own cliché. To be honest, I felt like I was becoming comfortable. And that’s a really beautiful thing in some ways, because it meant I had a style and a standpoint. But I always told myself that if people know where I’m going next, then that’s my idea of failure. Rebirth and reinvention are my favourite things about being an artist. Building a world and an adventure that didn’t exist yesterday is the coolest thing in the world to me. And as I sat in that New York hotel room, I asked myself, “How the hell am I going to be Yungblud forever?”
“That’s such a massive question—how was I going to be Yungblud forever?—because, at that moment, I felt like Yungblud, as it was known, had run its course. I felt exhausted—tired. I felt like I was repeating myself. So when I finished touring that album, I knew another adventure was coming.
